Chicago Player Wins British Poker Open
May 16 - In a surprise victory, Adam Dujmovic, a Chicago based semi-professional poker player beat World Poker champion, Greg 'Fossilman' Raymer to win the inaugural British Poker Open (BPO).
Before dispatching Raymer, Dujmovic beat out Swede Hakon Waerstad, UK's Matt Born, American, Robert Hill and Norwegian Andreas Harnemo. Dujmovic took more than 6 hours to diminish Waerstad's stack before the showdown against Raymer.
An ecstatic post-victory Dujmovic announced that the first thing he was going to do with his winnings was to take daughter to Disneyland. Dujmovic joins a growing multitude of players who have qualified for major land poker tournaments by winning seats by playing
at online poker rooms.
In another first, the BPO was the first poker tournament to be televised on the recently launched Poker Channel, the world's first specialist live poker channel.
Viewers of the BPO were treated to some of poker's greats including Howard Lederer, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, David 'Devilfish' Ulliot, and Gus Hansen.
