GoldenPalace Buys Popes Old Car
Top online casino, GoldenPalace.com, recently proved just how wacky they are by neating out all other eBay bidders to take the 1999 VW Golf previously owned by Pope Benedict XVI.
GoldenPalace walked away with the Pope's old car for just under $245 000. The car boasts a 5
gear manual transmission, air-conditioning, anti-theft devices and 75 000 km on
the clock. In 1999, Pope Benedict XVI or
Cardinal Josef Ratzinger as he was then known, had the car transferred from Germany
to Rome.
This auction broke all of eBay's previous records by attracting interest from
over 8.5 million visitors to its auction page. GoldenPalace has a long track
record for buying unusual items from eBay. This includes an old cheese sandwich
which was supposed to boast the likeness of
the Virgin Mary.
Benjamin Halbe, from the town of Olpe in Germany, was the 21 seller of the Golf.
In January this year, Benjamin bought the car from a local dealer for just 10 000
Euros. With the car, he included registration documents that proved the car
belonged to Josef Kardinal Ratzinger.
