IGC Supports Gambling Self Regulation
June 27 - The IGC (Interactive Gaming Council) recently came out in support of
Utah Attorney General, Mark Shurtleff's opposition to the World Trade
Organization's ruling condoning foreign online gambling companies operating in
non-gambling American states.
The Attorney General sent a letter to the WTO last week, which criticized the
ruling stating that gambling rules and regulations should be dealt with
autonomously by the individual states.
Rick Smith, IGC executive director commented, 'We agree with the Attorney
General that anti-gambling states like Utah should be allowed gambling self
regulation regarding their gambling policies.
'However, equally the federal government should not be
allowed to interfere with pro-gambling states such as Nevada or U.S. territories such as the
U.S. Virgin Islands,' he concluded.
